John Motherwell

John Motherwell was hired as an assistant coach for the women's baseketball team on July 27, 2010. He will serve as recruiting coordinator and will work mainly with the perimeter players.

Motherwell spent the past five seasons as an assistant for the Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's basketball team, where he also served as the recruiting coordinator and camp director.

In his first year on the staff (2005-06), the Panthers tallied a school-record 22 wins and, with a conference championship, earned a berth to the NCAA Division I tournament.

From 2000-05, Motherwell was an associate head women's basketball coach at Minnesota State Moorhead, where he also served as the recruiting coordinator and camp director.

While with the Dragons he recruited more all-conference players than any other staff in the conference and his recruits participated in three NCAA tournaments.

Prior to his move the Minnesota State Moorhead, Motherwell coached as an assistant at Concordia-St. Paul (1999-2000) and the College of St. Scholastica (1998-99). He was the recruiting coordinator at both schools and served as the interim head coach and was an assistant football coach at Concordia-St. Paul.

Before advancing to the collegiate level, he coached basketball, football, and tennis at various schools in Michigan.

He earned a bachelor's degree in general studies from Michigan in 1995 and attended Eastern Michigan from 1988-92, where he was a football letterwinner.

Motherwell's family includes wife, Sherri, daughter, Anneliese, and son Joseph.
