WHKY Game Notes: Sioux open New Year action in Easton Showcase

WHAT'S ON TAP: After a long break in which UND has been idle since sweeping Bemidji State Dec. 12-13, the Sioux return to the ice in non-conference action against Renssalaer and Wayne State in the Easton Showcase held in St. Cloud, Minn.

Media information: All Fighting Sioux home games can be heard on 1440 AM ("The Fan") with Sunday games on 96.1 FM ("The Fox") and on stations across the Fighting Sioux Radio Network, with broadcaster Darrin Looker calling the action.

THE ALL-TIME SERIES: UND has a combined record of 2-2-0 against Renssalaer winning both games in Grand Forks and losing both games in Troy, N.Y. The Sioux have never lost against Wayne State with a 7-0-1 record winning all four games at home and three in Detroit, Mich., with one tie.

SCOUTING REPORT: Renssalaer is led by four juniors that all have 10 points or more this season in Whitney Naslund (6-8--14), Alisa Harrison (5-9--14), Allysen Weidner (6-4--10) and Allison Wright (4-6--10). Sonja van der Bliek backs the Engineers with a .918 save percentage and a 1.78 goals-against average.

Wayne State has six players over 10 points with three of them already over 20 in Melissa Boal (16-12--28), Sam Poyton (15-12--27) and Lindsay DiPietro (8-16--24).
