GRAND FORKS, N.D. -- With the University of North Dakota men's cross country team playing host to its annual Ron Pynn Classic Open, sophomore Drew Campbell led the charge, capturing medalist honors on Saturday at Ray Richards Golf Course.
Campbell finished in first place out of 19 runners, clocking a time of 25 minutes, 6.1 seconds.
Freshman Alec Anderson, who as been a top finisher all season for the green and white, earned himself a top-three finish in the field as well, with a time of 25:23.5 in the 8K race.
UND put up a good fight against North Dakota State, the other Division I team competing in the meet, but ultimately fell to the Bison, 25-30.
The trio of junior Cataldo DiDonna, classmate Darin Baltezore, and sophomore Connor Danielson all picked up top-10 finishes for North Dakota. DiDonna placed seventh with a time of 25:38.2, and Baltezore followed up with a ninth-place finish and a time of 25:58.1. Danielson clocked a time of 26:05.6 to come in 10th.
UND now sets its sights on the 2015 Big Sky Conference Cross Country Championship, coming up on Oct. 31 in Cedar City, Utah.
