HELSINKI, Finland -- North Dakota forwards Nick Schmaltz and Brock Boeser will play for a bronze medal at the 2016 IIHF World Junior Championships after the United States suffered a 2-1 loss to Russia today during the semifinal round.
Team USA will face host Finland in tomorrow's bronze medal game at 8 a.m. Central.
Neither Schmaltz nor Boeser reached the scoresheet in today's loss to Russia, which will face Sweden in the gold medal game on Tuesday night.
Team USA's Christian Dvorak opened the scoring midway through the period, but Russia rallied with second-period goals by Pavel Kraskovski and Yegor Korshkov.
Russia outshot the U.S. 33-27.
