GRAND FORKS, N.D. - With only one month remaining until opening kickoff, the University of North Dakota women's soccer program announced its schedule for the 2019 season on Thursday. The Fighting Hawks slate features 18 regular season matches, two exhibitions and 11 home dates at the newly re-sodded Bronson Field.
"This is a really exciting and extremely challenging schedule," said Head Coach
Chris Logan. "The non-conference segment will really challenge this young team but we feel that with the wealth of talent we possess that we will be very competitive in each game. We are excited to be playing back at home on Bronson Field," added Logan, "and hope our fans get to watch some entertaining soccer."
UND will open the season Aug. 11 with a home exhibition versus Manitoba at 3 p.m., followed by another preseason contest against Viterbo five days later at Bronson Field. UND will begin its Summit League campaign when it hosts South Dakota on Oct. 4 at 3 p.m., and will not return to Bronson Field until Oct. 17 when it hosts Oral Roberts, its first of three consecutive home contests.
The Fighting Hawks will host defending Summit League Champion Denver on Oct. 24 and close their home schedule on Oct. 27 against Omaha. The regular season finale against North Dakota State will be played on Oct. 31 at 6 p.m. Central.
The Summit League Tournament, hosted by South Dakota State in Brookings, S.D., will begin Nov. 7 and conclude on Nov. 9, with the tournament champion earning a berth into the NCAA Tournament.
The Fighting Hawks will return to playing their matches on campus at Bronson Field in 2019 after playing last season at East Grand Forks High School. The field, which was resurfaced and re-sodded, will also feature new bench dugouts on the sidelines for each team.
