Fleecs Earns Academic All-Summit Honor

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - One month after being recognized as one of the top players in The Summit League, Julia Fleecs is being honored as one of the top student-athletes in The League, earning Academic All-Summit League accolades on Thursday, April 9.

The honor is the first of Fleecs career and the first for a North Dakota student-athlete since joining The Summit League before last season. A biology major, the senior-to-be finished ninth in The Summit League in scoring with 12.2 points per game and finished sixth in free throw percentage (.780).

Academic All-Summit League student-athletes must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.30 (on a 4.0 scale), completed at least one full academic year at the current institution and participated in 50 percent of their team's competitions.

Fleecs started all 30 games for the Fighting Hawks in 2019-20, leading the team in scoring and finishing second in rebounds per game with 4.8. The Glidden, Iowa native recorded three double-doubles last season with five 20-point games.

Earning Second Team All-Summit League honors on March 5, Fleecs also tied the University of North Dakota's single free throw percentage record on January 19 at North Dakota State, going 14-for-14 at the line.

Fleecs also set a new career-high in rebounds this season, crashing 16 boards at Western Illinois on February 15.
