GRAND FORKS, N.D. -- The student-athletes at the University of North Dakota shattered records once again in the classroom, earning the 29th straight semester with a 3.0 overall department grade point average and saw all 15 teams finish the semester with a 3.0 GPA. 

Overall, the student-athletes combined for a 3.540 departmental GPA, the highest mark ever recorded since UND moved to Division I in 2008. 295 of them – a record 88 percent – earned at least a 3.0 and an impressive 109 collecting a perfect 4.0 mark for the semester, which was also a DI high. Of those 109 perfect scores during the semester, a whopping 53 student-athletes maintained a cumulative GPA of 4.0 during their academic careers. In addition, 82 Fighting Hawks earned a selection to the Dean's List while 56 were named to the President's Honor Roll.

"We are once again so proud of the success that our student-athletes show each semester in the classroom," said Assistant AD, Student-Athlete Support Services Andres Freeman. "To have them put together the highest departmental GPA in our Division I history, as well as see four teams finish with their best semesters on record, is just a reflection of each student-athlete's dedication to what it means to be a student-athlete at the University of North Dakota. It also cannot happen without the support of the entire administration, coaches and support staff who help our players become the best they can be on-and-off the playing surface." 

Overall, four teams set a new DI record as a program for the highest GPA in a semester, with women's golf, men's track and field, football and hockey all setting new marks.
