MOSCOW, Idaho -- The University of North Dakota men's tennis team fell, 5-2, to Idaho on Saturday afternoon from the Kibbie Dome in the second of three matches this weekend against former Big Sky Conference foes.
UND (14-4) fell behind early, as Idaho jumped out to a 2-0 lead following a pair of doubles wins and on the No. 2 court, but started to rally back with a three-set victory by
Nikita Snezhko (4-6, 6-3, 6-3) to get the visitors on the board and cut the deficit to 2-1.
Tiebreakers defined the remainder of the match, with all but one of the final four singles contests going the distance. The Vandals were able to hold off the Hawks, picking up tiebreaker wins on the No. 1 and 3 court before adding a fifth point at the sixth spot to take the match, 5-2.
Riley Odell picked up the second point of the day for the green and white, rallying from a 6-3 defeat in the opening set to post back-to-back wins by the same score on the No. 5 court.
North Dakota closes out the weekend against Eastern Washington at 4 p.m. from Cheney, Wash.
