Jason Holt is in his fourth year as assistant volleyball coach at North Dakota. During his tenure with the Fighting Sioux, the UND volleyball program has produced a 52-44 (.542) record after three season, including its first and only two appearances in the NCAA Division II Regional tournament in 2002 and 2003.

Holt was hired at UND on May 28, 2002, after serving as assistant coach at Fort Hays (Kan.) State the previous two seasons.

Holt was born in Denver, Colo., and raised in Grants Pass, Ore., where he graduated from high school in 1988. He received his undergraduate degree in physical education and interdisciplinary studies from Western Oregon in 1995 and a master’s degree in physical education and sports administration from Fort Hays State in May 2002.

He began his volleyball coaching career at Springfield (Ore.) High School, where he was the junior varsity coach from 1989-91. After coaching for three seasons at Central High School in Independence, Ore. (1992-94), Holt became head volleyball coach at Sprague High School in Salem, Ore., where he was also a physical education teacher and activities director.

In 1999 Holt returned to Denver where he coached the Front Range Volleyball Club for one season. He matriculated at Fort Hays State in the fall of 2000, where he became Coach Jesse Mahoney’s top assistant. After going 1-28 in 2000, the Lady Tigers improved to 18-12 in 2001. Holt’s primary duties as top assistant were in the areas of recruiting, summer camps and on-floor instruction.
