"I am very excited to join the Fighting Hawks' family," Stricker said at the time of his hiring. "This is a great opportunity for me to share my passion and knowledge for the game of golf. I look forward to leading the program in pursuit of excellence both in the classroom and on the golf course."

A veteran of the golf industry, Stricker is formerly the general manager at the Whispering Oaks Golf Club in Manvel, N.D., a position he took over in March of 2017. Prior to that he was an assistant golf professional at King's Walk Golf Course in Grand Forks for one year.

"We are excited to have Matt take leadership of the men's golf program," former UND Athletics Director Brian Faison said. "He will bring a great set of skills and enthusiasm to the position."

In total, seven of his golfers earned all-state accolades and three did so in multiple years. Two of his golfers on the boys' team went onto to play Division I golf.

Stricker played collegiately at Rocky Mountain College in Billings from 1999-2000.
