UND Athletics LEADS Strategic Plan

I am thrilled to share UND Athletics LEADS. Our department’s strategic objectives were developed to envelope into the University’s UND LEADS. As part of our commitment to continuous improvement and alignment with the university’s overarching goals, we have meticulously crafted a strategic vision that encapsulates our department’s mission, priorities, and roadmap for success.

This serves as a guiding light, illuminating the path toward achieving our collective ambitions while nurturing a culture of accountability, growth and development while making sure that our department is as diverse and inclusive as possible. In addition, this plan will assist us in continuing to strive for classroom, competitive and community excellence. It outlines our key focus areas of learning, equity, affinity, discovery and service initiatives.

In crafting this, we analyzed trends in Division I athletics to ensure its relevance, feasibility, and adaptability. It reflects our deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing our department, empowering us to navigate complexities with agility and foresight.

By aligning our efforts with the broader organizational strategy, we aim to maximize our contribution to UND’s success while fostering a culture of excellence in all things that we do.

I encourage you to review the attached strategic plan document thoroughly and provide any feedback or insights you may have. Your input is invaluable as we embark on this journey together. Finally, I want to thank our student-athletes, coaches and staff for their continued dedication and support in representing the University of North Dakota and the State of North Dakota in the best light possible at all times.

Quincy Vaughn

The support Quincy Vaughn received from the coaching staff and his teammates is one of the biggest reasons he has found success within the North Dakota football team. Originally a quarterback recruit, Vaughn decided to make the switch to tight end in an effort to help the team on the field. Driven by the exceptional culture within the football program and the help from his coaching staff, in his first season at a new position, Vaughn scored nine touchdowns during his senior season.

“Four years later going on five, this place still feels like home to me the people, community, the coaches and everyone still makes me feel at home.”

Louis Jamernik V

Not only is Louis Jamernik V a key member of one of the premier hockey teams in the NCAA, but he is also an exceptional student in our esteemed aviation program. Balancing the pressures of collegiate athletics with a demanding specialized academic track, Jamernik V epitomizes the values of discipline and determination. His ability to excel in both the rink and classroom exemplifies the diverse talents and opportunities within North Dakota Athletics.

“It’s number one in both, hockey and aviation, the term best of both worlds is in its truest form ever for this situation”

Andrea Jansson

Andrea Jansson has been around the game of tennis all her life, and always dreamed of playing college tennis. When she was a junior in high school, Jansson and her family moved from Sweden to Edina, Minnesota where she joined one of the top teams in the state and would win two state championships. Her competitive drive has followed her to UND, where she has been named a team captain three years in a row and has emerged as one of the best in the Summit League in singles and on the top pairing in doubles.

“Even since my freshman year, I can see how the program has grown. It’s amazing, I love competing with all the girls and it feels like a family at UND.”

Callie Honig

Callie Honig’s commitment to the University of North Dakota and the Grand Forks community extends far beyond the softball diamond. Callie has donated almost 300 hours volunteering to local organizations, embodying the spirit of service and community engagement. While juggling a schedule involving class, practices and games, Callie remains deeply involved in making a positive impact outside of sports in the Grand Forks community.

“Being a student athlete at UND means that you are someone the community can count on in every aspect. Community service to me is being able to help the Grand Forks community in a personal way. Grand Forks has felt like home since I stepped foot on campus almost three years ago, so it makes it easy to want to volunteer my time. I enjoy being able to make an impact in the community as well as show that small efforts can make a difference.”
