GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The University of North Dakota Athletics Department announced Tuesday that a multi-year radio rights agreement has been reached with iHeart Media.
Beginning with the 2022-23 athletic season, iHeart will broadcast multiple North Dakota athletic teams and select feature programming through the length of the agreement, ending after the 2026 season with options to extend.
"Continuing our partnership with iHeart as the flagship radio station for UND Athletics is an exciting day for us," said North Dakota Director of Athletics Bill Chaves. "In addition, the ability to tap into iHeart's vast radio network was an attractive added feature to this process. We look forward to working with the iHeart team to provide our fans with the best radio coverage possible."
All home, road and postseason North Dakota hockey and football contests will air on iHeart stations across Grand Forks, Bismarck, Minot and Dickinson. Each broadcast will carry a pregame and postgame show to bring some of the most extensive coverage across the state.
In the Grand Forks area, fans will also be able to catch all UND men's and women's basketball games, featuring a pregame and postgame show, as well as multiple Fighting Hawks volleyball and softball contests.
Multiple features will air on KKXL 1440 AM in Grand Forks to help fans gear up each week for all their favorite athletic events. Running from 6-9 a.m. each morning, the 1440 The Fan Morning Show will feature daily UND content and an appearance from different North Dakota head coaches and student-athletes.
In addition, Fighting Hawks Daily is set to return, with iHeart providing a daily, two-minute update to promote the Fighting Hawks throughout the athletic season.
A weekly show is back as well on KKXL-AM, with the shows airing for one hour, one night per week during the year.
Fridays will be all about the green and white on KKXL-FM (92.9 FM), with the continuation of on Fighting Fridays. Multiple morning personalities will promote all the upcoming UND sporting events and feature ticket giveaways.
During the football season, fans will have a new way to enjoy tailgating with iHeart. The new "UND Fighting Hawks Tailgating Station" will include custom music playlists and more to create the ultimate NoDak tailgating experience before heading inside the Alerus Center.
Fans will also be able to listen to any iHeart station, have access to archived shows and new podcasts across the globe with the mobile app.
