UND has a 4-1 record and a 1-0 mark in MVFC play following the 72-35 win over Murray State last week. Isaiah Smith paced the backfield and also went over 100 yards, toting the rock 11 times for 142 yards and two touchdowns, while also hauling in a 74-yard touchdown reception. The 72 points scored were the most by North Dakota since an 80-0 victory over Jamestown in 1928.

NDSU is 4-1 and 1-0 in the MVFC after winning 42-10 at No. 18/15 Illinois State last weekend. The Bison recorded five sacks and held the Redbirds to just eight yards rushing in the victory. Eli Mostaert had two sacks to lead a strong performance by the North Dakota State defense. CharMar Brown led the Bison offensive attack, rushing 17 times for 100 yards and a score. North Dakota holds 63-50-3 lead in the series. In games played in Fargo, the series is tied 28-28-1. The rivalry dates back to 1894, tying it for the eighth-oldest college football rivalry among the likes of Oregon-Oregon State's "Civil War" and Texas-Texas A&M. UND won last season in the Alerus Center, 49-24, but has not in Fargo since a 12-6 win on Oct. 12, 2002.
