SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – North Dakota senior distance runner Shewaye Johnson has earned Summit League Women's Cross Country Peak Performer of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday afternoon.

Johnson is the UND women's second weekly honoree this season, as Johnson joined teammate Olivia Correale as the recognized student-athletes in 2026. Correale earned her recognition following UND's outstanding performance at the Gans Creek Classic on Sept. 25, claiming the conference's week four distinction.

Johnson claims this week's distinction after she led the North Dakota women to a 17th-place team finish in last Friday's Under Armour Pre-National Invitational at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course in Terre Haute, Ind., the site for this season's NCAA Championship. The team placement put the Fighting Hawks in the top half of finishers among 43 competing programs.

The Prosper, Texas, native paced all Summit League participants with a 20:17.6 time in the "Blue" 6k race, good enough to finish 43rd overall. She was one of three Fighting Hawks to finish in the top 100, and the only one in the top 50. She was the 12th-fastest senior in the field.

UND is back in action at the Summit League Championships on Oct. 31 in St. Paul, Minn. The women will look to defend their 2025 conference title while the men look to get over the hump and avenge last season's silver medal.
