Fighting Hawks Sports Partnerships to Launch Uniform Branding RFI on March 31

| By:
GRAND FORKS, N.D. – Fighting Hawks Sports Partnerships (FHSP), the sponsorship arm for University of North Dakota Athletics and the Ralph Engelstad Arena, will distribute a Request for Information (RFI) beginning Tuesday, March 31, as it explores potential uniform and apparel branding partnerships across UND Athletics programs.

The RFI is designed to gather feedback and gauge interest from businesses and organizations that may seek to have their brand featured on University of North Dakota Athletics uniforms, equipment and other gameday-related apparel. Responses will help FHSP better understand market interest, identify potential partners and refine a thoughtful, long-term approach to uniform branding opportunities.

"As collegiate athletics continues to evolve, we are always exploring thoughtful and strategic opportunities to support our student-athletes and strengthen our programs," said UND Director of Athletics Bill Chaves. "Issuing this Request for Information on uniform patch partnerships allows us to better understand the marketplace and identify potential collaborators who align with UND's values and brand. We are committed to a process that is both transparent and beneficial to the long-term success of Fighting Hawks athletics."

The RFI is not a request for proposals and does not represent a binding opportunity. Instead, it provides businesses with the chance to share which sports, uniform locations or apparel items may be of interest to them, along with general feedback on perceived value and partnership priorities. FHSP will use the responses to help shape a future selection process and ensure UND Athletics approaches this opportunity in a way that aligns with its brand and values.

The initiative follows the NCAA's recently approved legislation allowing additional commercial trademarks or logos on college athletics uniforms, equipment and apparel beginning August 1, 2026. The opportunity represents a new revenue stream as college athletics continues to evolve, while also creating additional avenues for corporate and community partnerships.

The RFI will be distributed March 31 and responses are due by May 1. All submissions will remain confidential. Additional discussions or negotiations with interested parties may occur following the review of responses.
