TULSA, Okla. – The 2025-26 season came to an end for the University of North Dakota men's tennis team on Saturday afternoon as the Fighting Hawks fell 4-0 to No. 71 Denver in the championship match of the Summit League Men's Tennis Championships at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
UND closes its season with a 15-10 record after the loss, falling short of its first conference title and automatic bid to the NCAA Tennis Championships in the Division I era.
Doubles play saw the Pioneers take the 1-0 lead after a 6-1 win from the No. 3 court and a 6-3 win at the No. 2 court, leaving
Darrshan Suresh Kumar and
Christos Alex's match at the No. 1 court unfinished, 2-5.
No. 1 Denver continued to roll in singles action, clinching the opening set at each of the six courts before collecting a trio of two-set match wins from the No. 6, 5 and 4 spots to solidify the 4-0 final score. Suresh Kumar had stormed back to take the second set at 6-3 from the second spot when play was halted.
