DURHAM, N.C. – North Dakota track and field was represented by 11 distance runners at the elite Duke Twilight on Sunday evening who each made the most of their performances across a total of six different events.
The day began with the 800-meter run, first with the women.
Brooklyn Brouse clocked a time of 2:08.37 to take seventh in her section and 23
rd overall while
Gabriella Ruggeri took sixth in her heat and 36
th overall with a time of 2:10.60, which moves her to seventh in the conference so far this season. In the men's races,
Aleksa Milanovic finished third in his heat behind a time of 1:50.66, which gave him 18
th place overall and eighth in the conference, as
Till Woldrich took sixth in his section and 24
th overall in a time of 1:51.48.
Olivia Correale ran a time of 4:22.02 in the women's 1500-meter run for fourth in her heat and 19
th place overall as
Katherine Rogers clocked a 4:30.67 for ninth in the same heat and 47
th overall.
Louis-Lys Fanucchi crossed the finish line in a time of 3:43.58 to take eighth in heat nine of the men's portion of the event, placing him 24
th overall.
In the men's 3000-meter steeplechase,
Henrik Lindstrot lit up the track and sprinted across the finish line in 8:50.61 to place third in heat one and third overall, marking the highest finish for a Fighting Hawk on the day.
The final event of the night served as the marquee showing for the Fighting Hawks, this time in the form of the women's 5000-meter run.
Shewaye Johnson led the way for UND with a clocking of 16:08.64 for seventh place in heat two, seventh overall, a new personal best, the third-best time in UND history and the second-best clocking in the conference so far this season.
Frida Giersdorff following with a time of 16:18.60 for 13
th in heat two, 13
th overall, a new PR, the fourth-best time in UND history and the third-best time in the conference. The final result came from
Marie-Louise Jorgensen, who ran a 16:23.55 for 16
th in heat two, 16
th place overall, a new PR, the fifth-best time in school history and the fourth-best time in the conference.
North Dakota now holds the top six women's 5000-meter times in the Summit League so far this season.
In the final week of action before the conference meet, North Dakota track and field will take on the Hillsdale Last Chance on Wednesday, May 6 and the NDSU Tune-Up on Friday, May 8.
