First Year of Operation - 2015-16

The Frederick “Fritz” D. Pollard Jr. Athletic Center was built with donor funding in 2015. The state-of-the-art practice facility features a 100-yard football field and an 8-lane, 300-meter meter Mondo Super X surface track, the same used at the Olympics. Bleachers were added to the 155,000-square-foot facility in 2019.

The facility has provided infinite value to both the campus and Grand Forks community over its time from hosting multiple Summit League Indoor Track and Field Championships, spring football and soccer, national collegiate drone racing, campus events and serving as a COVID-19 testing site in 2020.

The building was officially renamed from the "High Performance Center" to the Frederick "Fritz" D. Pollard, Jr. Athletic Center on Feb. 25, 2021 to honor one of the most decorated student-athletes in UND history.
