Mike Kubes

Mike Kubes

A native of Franklin, Wis., Mike Kubes joined the Fighting Sioux coaching staff in 2009 season as an intern assistant coach.

In his first year, Kubes helped transition Noah Dombrovski from linebacker to tight end. Dombrovski tallied 138 yards (12.5/game) on 13 receptions and scored his first collegiate touchdown.

Prior to UND, Kubes worked as a high school football coach at various schools in the state of Wisconsin. Most recently he served as the head coach at Milwaukee Washington High School, where he led the Purgolders to five wins. That season total matched team's win record accumulated over the previous five years combined . For his efforts, Kubes was named the 2008 Milwaukee City Conference Coach of the Year.

Kubes was an offensive lineman at Wisconsin-Eau Claire, where he helped the Blugolds win the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship in 2001. He graduated from UWEC with a bachelor's degree in physical education in 2005.

Kubes is currently pursuing his master's in sports psychology at UND and works with the university's Upward Bound program.
