Marina Marzolino Head Shot

Former Fighting Hawk Marina Marzolino was named an assistant coach in fall 2021, and enters her second season in the spring of 2023.

Marzolino, who graduated from UND in 2019 played for Stevens from 2016-2019, made 149 starts.  She was part of the group who rebuilt North Dakota softball – a program that had won just 12 games the season before she arrived in Grand Forks.  The win total increased the next three seasons to 17 in 2016, 23 in 2017, and a Division I program best 26 in 2018.  The 2018 season wasn’t played to its conclusion as weather forced an early end to the Big Sky Tournament in Odgen, Utah as North Dakota was still alive in the tournament but unable to play for the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Individually, Marzolino hit .244 over her career which included 11 home runs – seven of which came as a sophomore.  One of the three round trippers she hit as a senior was in her last home at-bat against South Dakota State.  She collected 71 career RBIs to go along with 60 runs scored.  On the base paths she was a perfect 17-for-17 stealing bases in her career.

Marzolino, an Orange, Calif. native joins Don Stopa as an assistant coach.
