Briana Shawstad is the Student Athlete Medical Insurance Technician for the University of North Dakota's Athletics Department. She joined the staff at UND in February of 2025. In her role she assists student athletes with all of their medical insurance related tasks. She provides information and assistance to student athletes on navigating health insurance coverage related medical treatments, rehabilitation and surgeries that are related to sports injuries.Â
She brings an A.A.S. Degree in Paralegal studies and is a Certified Medical Billing and Coding Specialist. She has a passion for sports and understanding the unique medical needs of student athletes.Â
Briana resides in Grand Forks, ND with her son Braxon and outside of work enjoys attending many sporting events, spending time with friends and family and being outdoors or at the lake.
