K.J. Maye was hired as the wide receivers coach at North Dakota in January of 2026.
Maye comes to Grand Forks after serving as wide receivers coach and recruiting coordinator at the University of North Alabama for one season, where he worked in all aspects of player development, game preparation and recruiting for the Lions. Maye's top two receivers at UNA combined for 76 receptions, 987 yards and eight touchdowns in 2025.
Prior to his collegiate coaching experience, Maye spent five seasons coaching in the Mobile County Public School System, including serving as an offensive coordinator. His offenses ranked among the top in the region, highlighted by a 2024 season in which his team averaged more than 35 points per game and advanced to the regional semifinals.
Maye also brings professional playing experience, having spent time in the National Football League and Canadian Football League. He had stints with the New York Giants, Tennessee Titans, New England Patriots and Edmonton Eskimos during his professional career.
A 2016 graduate with a bachelor's degree in sociology from the University of Minnesota, Maye played four seasons with the Golden Gophers and earned All-Big Ten Honorable Mention honors following his senior campaign after finishing with 73 catches, 773 yards and five touchdowns.
