National Semi-Final Post-Game Quotes

North Dakota Press Conference

Chris Porter, Sr., F

Q: Did Boston College do anything to throw you off your game?

A:  “B.C. played great. We knew what to expect coming into the game. The coaches had us prepared and we knew exactly what we’d be faced with, and they executed what they wanted to do real well. We weren’t surprised in anyway. They played a great game. Penalty kill/power play was a difference in the game. They won that battle, and that is why they won the game.”

Q: On the team’s mood after he scored the fourth goal.

A:  “You’re never out of the game, and we fought right to the end.  I’m proud of the way we played and battled. We didn’t get the bounces, but they played well. We’re never out of the game, and we never felt like that on the bench. The guys were up and ready to go. You score with 16 seconds left, and there is still time and we were hoping to score.”

Q: On Boston College’s first empty net goal.

A:  “You never like to give up the empty net, and (Joe) Rooney did a great job getting down there to put the puck in the empty net. We had a flurry of chances right before that series, and I just couldn’t capitalize.

Q: Thoughts on game after the second period

A:  “You are still in the game 2-2. That is a perfect position for any hockey team to be in ? the semifinals of the Frozen Four. I thought we were sitting real well. Obviously we didn’t score on the power play (to begin the third period), but I thought we had a little bit of momentum going. It went back and forth either way, and we had a couple of penalties that cost us a couple there. Momentum was back and forth but we were never out of it.”

Q: Thoughts on game after the second period

A:  “Going into the third period tied, really that is just another 20-minute game with the score 0-0. Our tempo in the third period was not what we wanted, but we kept battling. Unfortunately, we just fell short.”

Q: Were they not as crisp as they had been in the past games?

A:  “Our momentum was up and down. We kind of thrive off of building momentum in the offensive zone and grinding and wearing the other team down. We just didn’t do it enough tonight. We still had a little bit left in the tank in the third period; unfortunately we couldn’t keep that momentum a little bit longer. We were kind of going back and forth and it was hard to get going when you are on your toes one second and on your heels another.”
