HANOVER, N.H. -- Sioux defenseman Robbie Bina (Jr., Grand Forks, N.D.) scored on a high wrist shot at 6:33 of the third period to break a 1-1 tie, and the UND men's hockey team went on to beat Dartmouth 4-1 on Friday in the Ledyard National Bank Tournament.

The win snapped a four-game losing streak for the Sioux, who improved to 8-10-1 overall on the season. Dartmouth fell to 5-5-2 overall.

The Sioux will now face St. Lawrence on Saturday at 6 p.m. Central time in the championship game of the tournament. The Saints defeated Boston University, 4-3 in overtime, in Friday's afternoon game. Dartmouth and Boston University will play at 3 p.m. in the consolation game.

UND goalie Philippe Lamoureux (Jr., Grand Forks, N.D.) stopped 25 shots in the game, and the Sioux killed off a season-best 11 of 11 power play attempts.

Bina's third goal of the season came during a 4-on-4. Sioux forward T.J. Oshie (So., Warroad, Minn.) carried into the offensive zone, then left the puck for Ryan Duncan (So., Calgary, Alberta), who passed to Bina at the right point. Bina's high wrist shot appeared to deflect off a Dartmouth player past Dartmouth goalie Mike Devine.

UND's Andrew Kozek (So., Sicamous, B.C.) made it 3-1 at 9:01 of the third during another 4-on-4 situation when he took a pass from Chris Porter (Sr., Thunder Bay, Ontario) along the right boards, carried the puck over the blue line and fired a wrist shot past Devine. It was Kozek's fourth goal of the season.

Duncan added an empty net goal with 42 seconds left while the Sioux were shorthanded. It was Duncan's 12th goal of the year, and was UND's second shorthanded goal of the game.

UND's first shorthanded goal came at 2:21 of the first period when Rylan Kaip (Jr., Radville, Saskatchewan) took a clearing pass from Lamoureux in the neutral zone and beat Devine during a 2-on-1 break. Kaip picked up Lamoureux's pass and broke across the Big Green blue line with Erik Fabian (Sr., Roseau, Minn.). With Fabian breaking to the net, Kaip fired a wrist shot from the left circle that beat Mike Devine, who appeared to be screened by his own defenseman.

It was Kaip's first goal of the season and also the first shorthanded goal of the season by North Dakota.

UND killed off the penalty, but were shorthanded again two minutes later when Oshie was pulled down on a breakaway attempt at 6:07 by Big Green defenseman Grant Lewis. Oshie was awarded a penalty shot, but fired a wrister right into Devine.

The Big Green tied it at 1:29 of the second period when Dartmouth forward David Jones scored a shorthanded goal off a UND turnover. Jones broke in alone on Lamoureux and beat him with a shot high to the glove side.

UND outshot Dartmouth 26-18 in the game.

NOTES: The last time UND had a penalty shot attempt was March 6, 2006, when Rylan Kaip was stopped in a game against Michigan Tech.
