Minnesota Duluth too much for Sioux

GRAND FORKS, N.D. - The Minnesota Duluth women's hockey team proved to be too much for the Fighting Sioux this afternoon at Ralph Engelstad Arena. Duluth, ranked No. 7 in the country, beat UND 4-0.

The loss drops UND's record to 3-26-2 overall and 0-24-1 in the WCHA.

Duluth's Tawni Mattila got things going for the Bulldogs at the 12:40 mark of the first period, scoring an unassisted goal. The Bulldogs's Noemie Marin and Karine Demeule each scored in the second periond. Marin had another goal at the 16:04 mark of the third period. 

UND's Brittany Kirkham had a good game in net, stoppin 34 of 38 shots, including 17 in the second period.

The two teams will face tomorrow in the second game of a weekend series. Gametime is set for 2:07 p.m.
