VERONA, Wis. -- The Fighting Sioux women's hockey team ended their season with a 3-0 loss to #2 Wisconsin. Wisconsin scored two goals in the first two minutes of the game to ice the victory. With the loss, North Dakota is eliminated from the WCHA playoffs.
North Dakota was unable to come through on the two power-play chances that it had. The Fighting Sioux offense fired 16 shots on net, but couldn't get one past Wisconsin goalie, Christine Dufour.
UND goalie, Brittany Kirkham (Fr., Nepean, Ont.) made 19 saves in the loss.
With the defeat, UND bids farewell to seniors Alexia Gagnon-Laplante (Sainte-Therese, Que.) and Aynsley Allen (St. Andrews, Man.) for their contributions to the Fighting Sioux women's hockey program. Both players have played in over 100 career games in a Fighting Sioux uniform.
North Dakota ended the season with a 3-31-2 record. Wisconsin improves to 31-1-4 record and moves on to the WCHA quarterfinals at Ridder Arena in Minneapolis, Minn.
