Women's hockey travels to Ohio State

GRAND FORKS, N.D. -- The Fighting Sioux women's hockey team will begin the second half of their season with a road series against Ohio State. Earlier this season, UND tied and lost a game to the Buckeyes. Ohio State has a season record of 8-8-2 overall and 5-7-2 in the WCHA.

Ohio State begins the second half of its season with the series against North Dakota. The Buckeyes last played on Dec. 8-9 against Minnesota-Duluth. UMD swept Ohio State, 7-2 and 4-0.

Ohio State is led on offense by seniors Erin Keys and Tessa Bonhomme. Keys leads the Buckeyes in goals (10) and points (21). Bonhomme is Ohio State's leader in assists with 13, and ranks second on the team in points with 20. Junior goaltender Liana Bonanno has seen the majority of time in net for the Buckeyes. Bonanno has a season record of 7-6-2 while allowing 2.86 goals per game. Bonanno is saving 89.7 percent of shots on goal.

The Buckeyes' power-play is eight of 69 on the season and their penalty kill is stopping 84.9 percent of opponent power-plays.

After nearly a month off, the Sioux look to build on their strong first half. In the first half of the season, the Sioux matched their win total from the previous season and have scored nearly as many goals as they did the previous season as well.

The first game of the series against Ohio State will be played on January 4, 2008 at 6:07 p.m. (CST) at the OSU Ice Rink. The final game of the season series will be on January 5, 2008 at 3:07 p.m. (CST).
