SIOUX FALLS, S.D.--Senior guards Corey McIntosh and Ian Thomas each scored 16 points to carry Augustana to an 88-60 North Central Conference victory over the Fighting Sioux tonight in front of 2,504 at the Elmen Center.
The loss drops UND to 12-11 overall and 1-7 in league play, while the Vikings improve to 18-6 and 6-3.
McIntosh and Thomas were two of four Vikings in double figures, leading an offensive attack that shot 63.2 percent and scored 58 points in the first half, the most points allowed in a half by the Sioux this season.
An early 6-0 run by the Sioux to within 15-12 seven minutes into the game, but it was all Augustana from that point on. Ten different Vikings scored in the first half and Augustana and amassed a 58-30 lead by halftime.
The Sioux were plagued by 15 first-half turnovers, while Augustana turned the ball over just five times.
UND senior forward Emmanuel Little (Chicago, Ill.) led the Sioux with 10 first-half points but could not find the scoresheet in the second half.
McIntosh and Thomas were aided by 15 points by guard Marques Blank and 11 from David Foster. McIntosh led all players with seven assists and three steals.
The Vikings shot 54 percent from the field for the game.
Freshman guard Denny Dumas (Surrey, British Columbia) was a bright spot for the Sioux, leading all players with 17 points. He knocked down three of six three-pointers and finished 5-for-8 from the field.
Fellow freshman Derek Benter (Crosby, N.D.) added 10 points off the bench, his best output since the second game of the season.
UND returns to action on Saturday at Minnesota Duluth.
