GRAND FORKS, N.D. ? Matt Fick and Brian Fransen were honored today by the North Central Conference as North Central Conference Male Track & Field Athletes of the Week.

Fick was selected as the NCC Male Field Athlete of the Week. The senior from Grand Forks, N.D., captured first place in both the hammer (49.53 meters) and javelin (65.74 meters) throws at the Truman State Open in Kirksville, Mo. on Saturday. With his javelin throw, Fick provisionally qualified for the Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

Fransen, the NCC Male Track Athlete of the Week, won the 800-meter run at the Truman State Open with his time of 1:58.51

The Fighting Sioux track and field teams are back in action Saturday at the Augustana Vance Butler Invite, to be held in Sioux Falls, S.D.
