GRAND FORKS, N.D.--University of North Dakota men's and women's swimming coach Maviael Sampaio announced today that Mike Moran has been hired as a full-time assistant coach.

Moran had spent the previous two seasons as a graduate assistant coach with the Fighting Sioux. Moran has helped lead both the Sioux men's and women's teams to top-five national finishes in each of his two seasons on the coaching staff.

A native of Brown Deer, Wis., Moran is completing a master's degree in kinesiology at UND. He lettered in swimming for four years at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and earned All-America honors in 2002 before graduating with a bachelor's degree in business administration in 2003.
