GRAND FORKS, N.D.--University of North Dakota director of athletics Brian Faison and head women's hockey coach Brian Idalski announced today the hiring of Kevin Vaughan as director of women's hockey operations.
Vaughan will serve as the team's equipment manager and will also coordinate all team travel.
A 2007 graduate of St. Cloud State University with a bachelor's degree in human resource management, Vaughan spent the past four years as a student manager with the Huskies' men's and women's hockey programs. During that time, Vaughan's responsibilities included skate sharpening and locker room attendant. In 2006-07 he accompanied the SCSU women's team on all road trips.
Vaughan also served as the equipment manager for the USA Under-17 team that won the gold medal at the 2006 Five Nations Cup in Rochester, N.Y.
A native of Inver Grove Heights, Minn., Vaughn also coached youth hockey in Minneapolis in 2007-08.
