WHAT'S ON TAP: The University of North Dakota women's hockey team opens the new decade on New Year's Day against Eastern College Athletic Conference's Union College in a two game series set for Friday and Saturday with game times at 6 p.m. and 3 p.m. CDT, respectively.

SCOUTING REPORT: The Dutchwomen are currently in 12th place in the ECAC with one point (0-7-1) ... Union is 3-14-1 overall this season ... UC has already topped last years record as they went 2-29-3 and 0-15-5 in the conference ... The Dutchwomen are averaging 1.28 goals per game while giving up 3.06 ... Sophomore forward Lauren Hoffman leads the team in points (2-5-7) and assists while Sophomore forward Emilie Arseneault tops the squad in goals (4-1-5) ... In net the Beavers are led by freshman Alana Marcinko who has started 12 games with an 2.87 goals allowed average and a .904 save percentage ... Their special teams have struggled so far this season going 3-for-59 (.051) on the power play and converting 76-of-94 (.809) penalty-kill opportunities.
COACHING STAFF: The Dutchwomen are led by head coach Claudia Asano who is in her third season at the helm of UC with a record of 8-70-6. She is assisted by Ali Boe and Marianna Locke.
THE ALL-TIME SERIES: The Sioux lead the all-time series against Union, 2-0-0, with both wins coming a season ago at the Ralph Englestad Arena ... The Sioux shut out the Dutchwomen in the opener 3-0 and won the finale 4-1 ... UND out shot the Dutchwomen 86-25 in the series.
LAST ACTION: North Dakota closed out its first half of action in a home series against Minnesota where the Gophers skated to 3-1 and 5-0 wins.
The Sioux were the victim of a dominate Gopher power play as they converted seven times off 13 attempts. The weekends last goal by Minnesota turned out to be the only even-strength goal given up by either team in the series.
The Sioux finished the finale outshooting the Gophers 24-23 which was only the second time in program history (28-27 in 4-0 loss on Jan. 27, 2007).
