We are back on the road this week?heading to Seattle. It is hard to believe that there are only two road t
rips left.
Over the past few months, we have seemingly lived in various airports. After a season full of flying, it is obvious that we would seem to have gone a little “crazy” to those on the outside looking in.
I'll tell you a little bit why ...
We started off the season eating at Fridays every time we arrived in or departed Minneapolis. Now, however, we do not desire the fine dining of these sit-down restaurants?we want the Wok & Roll, a fast food Chinese restaurant! The fancy sit-down places no longer intrigue us.
We walk around these airports as if it was our home, sit in our gate surrounded by only each other, and do nearly everything to keep ourselves entertained during our layovers.
At the beginning of the season, we were a little more easily amused by reading magazines or working on homework. Nearly everyone on the team flew through the Twilight series, and discussed each chapter in great detail.
As the season went on, we began to play card games such as spoons (with pens of course, because spoons are not easy to come by in an airport) and speed, a card game that Andrea always beats Danye at (Andrea wanted me to make sure that I let everyone know that!).
On the last road trip, Corey and Jossy decided to leg wrestle! This is a game where you lay side by side, hook legs, and the person who flips over first loses. Some times we have people watching in awe, wandering what in the world is wrong with us, but it usually ends in laughter for the entire gate.
There have been some interesting, yet entertaining times in the airports. At the time we just wanted to get to our destination, but looking back, I realize that these times were some of the best of our season.
They were times when it was just us. All we wanted was each other and that's all we needed. We laughed in these airports, and even cried after a tough loss.
Those moments we will never get back, and because of that, we will miss it! Every time I travel, for the rest of my life, I will remember these unforgettable times.
