GRAND FORKS, N.D. ? Head women's track and field coach Dick Clay announced Saturday that Brooke Biederstedt, Brittany Brenny, Mandy Gefroh and Ashley Gierke have been selected as women's track and field student-athletes of the week.
Brittany Brenny (Jr., Staples, Minn.) continued her strong outdoor campaign with her first place finish in the 5,000-meter run at the Minot State Open on April 18th. Brenny's time of 17:35.51 was over two minutes faster than second place finisher Tina Soto from Dickinson State.
Freshman Brooke Biederstedt (Fr., Dickinson, N.D.) threw her way to a first place finish in the shot put with her throw of 40-4 ?” before finishing sixth in both the discus throw (91-9”) and the hammer throw (90'-03”) at the MSU Open.
Senior Mandy Gefroh (Bismarck, N.D.) claimed the top spot in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with her winning time of 11:35.08 at the South Dakota State Twilight on April 22nd.
Ashley Gierke (Fr., Valley City, N.D.) threw her way to a first place finish in the javelin with her toss of 117-1”.
The weekly honors are voted by the student-athletes.
