Fighting Sioux women's track and field announces 2009 recruiting class

GRAND FORKS, N.D. -- University of North Dakota women's track and field coach Dick Clay has announced the 2009 Fighting Sioux recruiting class, a list of nine committed student-athletes.

Kirsten Haas - Belgrade, Mont. - Belgrade High School

Haas captured the 2007 and 2009 Montana class A state championship in the 300-meter hurdles. In 2009, she posted Montana's top overall time for all four divisions (AA, A, B, C) in the event, leading Belgrade to the state class A team championship. Haas also placed second in the 100-meter hurdles in 2009 after winning the title in 2008, was the lead leg of her team's 4x100-meter relay championship team and placed fourth individually in the 200 meters at the state meet. Haas is an honor student at Belgrade High School.

Paige Kuplic - Savage, Minn. - Prior Lake High School

Kuplic is the 2009 Minnesota class AA champion in the 200 meters and has been a multiple-state meet qualifier in the sprints the past three years. In 2009, she posted Minnesota's top overall time for both classes (A and AA) in the 100 meters with a time of 12.01 and the second fastest overall time in the 200 at 24.81. She is also an honor student.

Anna Lipetsky - Moorhead, Minn. - Moorhead High School

Lipetsky helped her team to a 2008 section 8AA cross country championship. She has led her team to a pair of top 10 finishes in the state class AA cross country championships the past two years, including a fifth-place finish in the fall of 2008. Lipetsky is also an honor student.

Christine McIntyre - Eagan, Minn. - Eagan High School

McIntyre was consistently one of Eagan High School's top runners on the 2008 cross country team and ran track for Eagan High School.

Megan Storstad - Grand Forks, N.D. - Red River High School

Storstad was the 2008 and 2009 EDC champion in the javelin. She placed second in the event at the 2009 state class A meet after winning the javelin title in 2009. Storstad was a multi-sport athlete at Red River, helping her team to the state volleyball tournament as a junior and senior. Storstad is also an honor student.

Kelsey Thompson - Cavalier, N.D. - Cavalier High School

Thompson is a multiple all-state performer in the javelin. She placed fifth in the javelin at the 2008 class B state meet and fourth at the 2009 championships. She was also the region two champion in the javelin. Thompson was a multiple-sport letterwinner for Cavalier High School.

Brittany Zander - Mandan, N.D. - Mandan High School

Zander qualified for the 2009 state meet in the 400 and 800 meters and in the long jump, earning all-state honors in the 400 and long jump. Zander was a multi-sport athlete at Mandan, also competing for the volleyball and basketball teams.

Walk-ons:

Megan Gray - St. Cloud, Minn. - St. Cloud Tech High School

Gray was the 2009 Section 8AA champion in the 300-meter hurdles. She went on to place 10th at the class AA state championships in the 300-meter hurdles.

Jenna Olson - Bowman, N.D. - Bowman High School

Olson qualified for the class B state meet in the 400 meters in 2008 and in 2009, where she earned All-State honors both years.
