Lewis and Wiebe named to WCHA All-Star Team

MADISON, Wis. --- The Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) has announced junior Kelly Lewis (Forest Lake, Minn.) and sophomore Alyssa Wiebe (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) have been chosen to the WCHA All-Star Team that will face off against the U.S. Women's National Team Friday, Sept. 25, at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.

The game will open the Qwest Tour which features the U.S. Women's National Team, including UND's Jocelyne Lamoureux and Monique Lamoureux, playing 10 games in preparation for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games.

Assistant coach Maria Lewis will be serving as an assistant coach for the all-stars.

Lewis will serve as the 2009-10 Fighting Sioux captain from the blue line after being voted Fighting Sioux Best Defensive Player and making the WCHA All-Academic team. In doing so, Lewis led the team in power-play goals.

Wiebe was voted the Fighting Sioux Rookie of the Year after scoring 28 points (13-15-28) which was the best all-time by a UND freshman.

Lewis and Wiebe will miss the first game of a two-game series against the University of Manitoba in UND's season-opening action.
