DES MOINES, Iowa--The Fighting Sioux women's track team enjoyed its finest day of the outdoor season today at Drake University's Jim Duncan Invitational. UND student-athletes accounted for eight personal records and nine times that landed on UND's all-time top-10 times lists.
Freshman sprinter Paige Kuplic (Savage, Minn.) finished third in the 100-meter dash, posting a personal record time of 12.25 seconds that is tied for the fourth-fastest time in school history.
Teammate Cheri Boyer (So., Barney, N.D.) also landed in the UND top-10 times list in the 100-meter dash. Her time of 12.68 seconds, a personal record, ranks as the ninth-best time in Sioux history. Boyer finished 12th in today's race.
The 200-meter dash was also filled with personal record and all-time top-10 performances by the Sioux. Kuplic finished ninth with a time of 25.43 seconds, the sixth-best 200-meter time in program history.
Boyer's time of 26.33 seconds was a personal record and also landed her among the top 10. Freshman Taryn Anderson (Fr., Remer, Minn.) had a personal-record time of 26.62 seconds to join her teammates in UND's all-time top 10.
Sophomore Emily Emerson (Lino Lakes, Minn) placed third in the 1,500-meters, clocking a personal record time of 4:35.45 that was the seventh-fastest ever by a Sioux.
Not to be outdone, junior Jessica Butler (Grand Rapids, Minn.) enjoyed a personal-record time in the 100-meter hurdles while placing ninth. Butler's time of 14.92 seconds was the fourth-fastest in school history.
In the 400-meter hurdles, freshman Kirsten Haas (Belgrade, Mont.) placed sixth, recording a personal-record time of 1:05.38. It was the seventh-fastest time in school history.
Butler, Boyer, Kuplic and Sarah Fegley (Jr., Berthhold, N.D.) teamed for a third-place effort in the 4x100 relay. Their time of 48.86 seconds was the fourth-best in school history.
A pair of Sioux placed in the top six in the pole vault. Kayla Pfau (Sr., Minot, N.D.) placed third and Kate LaRoche (Sr., Faribault, Minn.) finished sixth.
Freshman Megan Storstad (Grand Forks) was the runner-up in the javelin with a throw of 118-06 feet (36.12 meters).
UND returns to Des Moines April 22-23 for the Drake Relays.
