Best of 2000s: The Final

GRAND FORKS, N.D. -- After five weeks of voting, the finals of the FightingSioux.com Best of 2000s are here. You, the fans of the University of North Dakota, have voted on your favorite events, deciding the biggest moments of the last 10 years.

It's down to two. But first, a recap of the last round.

Semifinal 1:

In one of the most popular polls of the entire tournament, there was another upset. The swimming fans came out in full force once again, advancing the 2008 two national championship-performance by Carissa Gormally. Ranked at No. 6 in the General/Pool/Track/Course bracket, it road was a tough one. It knocked out another big event — the 2001 football national championsihp — on its way to final, winning the semifinal 59 percent to 41.

Semifinal 2:

Fighting Sioux fans were reminded of the other finalist this spring, as the 2000 men's hockey national championship was honored during it's 10-year reunion, and the votes have continued to be strong for the top-rated ice event. It handily beat an upset attempt by the 2010 volleyball team, which made a great run in their season and in this tournament. Alas, the 2000 team powered on, winning 63 percent to 37.
