GRAND FORKS, N.D. - University of North Dakota head women's and men's swimming and diving coach Steve Parsons has announced the 2010-11 schedule.
"We have a very tough schedule ahead of us, perhaps the toughest schedule this program has ever faced," Parsons said. "It is going to be a challenge, but our team, both the women and the men, are up for it."
The Fighting Sioux will begin the season with the annual Green/White intra-squad meet (Oct. 1) before hosting a set of four dual meets in the Hyslop Pool. UND will first face South Dakota State (Oct. 16) and then South Dakota twice (Oct. 22, Oct. 23). On Oct. 30, the women's will face Northern Iowa.
The road schedule will begin on Nov. 6 and will take the teams through the month. The Sioux will first stop in Evanston, Ill., to go up against Northwestern, UW-Milwaukee, and Illinois-Chicago. They will then travel to Lincoln, Neb., for a Nov. 12 meet against Nebraska (women only) and Wyoming.
UND will face Drury and Kansas (women only) on Nov. 13 before returning to the campus of Northwestern for the TYR Invitational (Nov. 19-21).
North Dakota's lone event in the month of December will be the UND Diving Invite on Dec. 4.
During the first week of January, the Sioux will be in Ft. Myers, Fla., for their annual training trip. While in Florida, UND will take on Howard (Jan. 2) and Shippensburg (Jan. 6).
To close out January, UND will travel to Brookings, S.D., to face South Dakota State (Jan. 28) and then further south to take on South Dakota (Jan. 29).
The Fighting Sioux will conclude the season in Houston, Texas, at the 2010-11 C-USA Championship.
