NOTRE DAME, Ind. - A handful of North Dakota student-athletes came through with notable performances today to kick off the 24th annual Meyo Invitational, hosted by Notre Dame at the Loftus Sports Center.
In the preliminaries of the 60-meter hurdles, Jessica Butler (Sr., Grand Rapids, Minn.) clocked the second-fastest 60-meter hurdles time in UND history at 8.97 seconds. That performance is topped only by Butler's record-setting time of 8.87 seconds established last Saturday at Iowa State.
Meanwhile, freshman Savana Weller (Sauk Centre, Minn.) cracked UND's all-time top-10 in the 500-meters. She clocked a time of 1:19.15, which ranks as the 10th-best in Sioux history. Weller placed 19th in the event.
Lindsay Anderson (Jr., Leeds, N.D.) had UND's highest individual finish of the day, placing 18th in the 5,000-meters with a time of 17:16.19.
The two-day event concludes on Saturday at Loftus Sports Center.
