Men's swimming and diving hold awards banquet

GRAND FORKS, N.D. - Four individual awards were handed out this weekend as the University of North Dakota men's swimming and diving team held its annual end of the season awards banquet.

Most Valuable
Adam Gannon (Fr., Plymouth, Minn.)

Mike Haase "Rookie of the Year"
Andrew Goll (So., Brainerd, Minn.)

Newcomer of the Year
Richard Eberle (So., Fort Collins, Colo.)

Most Improved
David Flickinger (Fr., Moorhead, Minn.)

"We like to get together one last time with the entire team before our seniors go out into the business world or on to graduate school," head swimming and diving coach Steve Parsons said. "It is an opportunity to recognize the swimmers and divers who had a major impact on the team throughout the season. It also gives us a chance to reflect and laugh about the past season and look forward to next season."

The Fighting Sioux men's swimming and diving team finished the 2010-11 season with a 6-6 dual meet record and a fourth-place finish at the 2011 Conference USA Championship.

The total individual points scored throughout the dual meet season are used to determine the MVP and Newcomer of the Year. The Mike Haase "Rookie of the Year" Award is voted on by the team and Most Improved is selected by the coaching staff.
