Dalen, Elander conclude IIHF Camp in Bratislava

University of North Dakota incoming freshman Andrea Dalen and associate head coach Peter Elander wrapped up the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) Women's High Performance Camp in Bratislava, Slovakia, today.

The six-day camp consisted of over 200 athletes plus coaches and staff from 17 nations in the first event after announcing The IIHF Ambassador and Mentor Program (AMP).

The created partnerships between some of the world's best women's hockey coaches and athletes with countries that are striving to develop elite women's hockey programs is planned to help close the gap between the North American teams and the rest of the world.

The camp included games, on-and-off ice skill development drills as well as seminars on nutrition, strength and conditioning, team building and a "hot stove" panel where players got the opportunity to question some of the major figures associated with women's hockey.

On Friday, Dalen participated in a senior group game where she scored her team's first goal and did so against University of Minnesota world-class goaltender and Finnish Olympian Noora Räty.

Elander was named coaching mentor for the German National Team earlier this summer and will advise them throughout the 2014 Olympics in Sochi, Russia.
