GRAND FORKS, N.D. -- After posting her first career shutout, freshman goaltender
Lexie Shaw was rewarded by being named the Western Collegiate Hockey Association's Rookie of the Week on Wednesday.
During the Jan. 17 game against St. Cloud State, Shaw stopped all 16 saves that she faced en route to a 4-0 shutout win. In the past three games that Shaw has played she has recorded a 3-0-0 record with a 0.67 goals-against average and a .966 save percentage.
This is the first weekly honor for Shaw and the seventh for UND this season. Freshman forward Susanna Tapani has been named rookie of the week three times, senior forward Michelle Karvinen has been named offensive player of the week twice and freshman defenseman Gracen Hirschy has been named defensive player of the week once.
The North Dakota women's hockey team prepares for a weekend series against Bemidji State, Jan. 24-25. Both games will be played at 7:07 p.m.
