MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Senior thrower Shawn Johnson enjoyed a pair of runner-up finishes, one of several standout performances for North Dakota on the final day of the Coastal Carolina Shamrock Invitational.

Johnson placed second in both the discus and the shot put. The Eveleth, Minn., native hit a discus mark of of 163 feet, 3 inches and followed up with shot put of 54-05 ½. Teammate Roman Waldera was third in the discus with a throw of 160-02.

UND also got a runner-up finish from Javen Butler in the 200-meters, where three UND runners cracked the top six. Butler led the trio with a finals time of 23.04 seconds, followed by teammates Chavon Mackey (23.14) and Patrick Brown (23.39), who finished third and sixth, respectively.

Sophomore Parker Wharram placed seventh in the 10K run with a time of 32 minutes, 56.87 seconds.

Another sophomore, D'Monte Farley, provided UND with eighth-place finishes in both the 100-meters and the triple jump. Farley clocked a 100-meters time of 10.94 seconds and landed a triple jump mark of 46-03 ¼.

Senior Kohl Koppinger placed eighth in the pole vault, clearing 15 feet, 1 inch.

UND returns to action April 5 at the Dakota Duals in Vermillion, S.D.
