MOORHEAD, Minn. – University of North Dakota senior Shawn Johnson won a pair of throws events and sophomore Jimmy Evers won the 110-meter hurdles today at the Ron Masanz Classic, hosted by Minnesota State-Moorhead.
Johnson won the shot put with a mark of 54 feet, 7 ½ inches (16.65 meters) and captured the discus with a throw of 169-04 (51.62).
Evers claimed the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.89 seconds.
UND also received a pair of runner-up performances from senior Dwight Mandimika and freshman John Hoplin. Mandimika won the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9 minutes, 56.20 seconds. Hoplin won the javelin with a throw of 185 feet (56.38 meters), a personal record.
In the long jump, sophomore D'Monte Farley logged a season-best mark of 21-11 ¾ (6.70).
UND will compete in the NDSU Tune-Up on May 9, its final competition leading up to the 2014 Big Sky Conference Outdoor Championship.
