FORT MYERS, Fla. – Junior Quinton Hooker scored a season-high 25 points to lead the North Dakota men's basketball team to a 77-59 victory over Bowling Green on Saturday in the opening game of the Hilton Garden Inn FGCU Classic at Alico Arena.

True freshman Adam McDermott finished with 17 points off the bench and led a 10-for-21 effort by the Fighting Hawks (2-1) from beyond the arc. He finished 5-of-6 on his own and made four in a key stretch of the second half.

Spencer Parker topped BGSU (1-2) in both points and rebounds, finishing with 16 points and 12 rebounds to register a double-double.

After the teams went back-and-forth early on, UND raced out to a 30-13 lead thanks a 16-1 run that was capped by Corey Baldwin's third 3-pointer of the opening half.

The Falcons would get back in the game though with an 11-0 run later in the stanza and trim that deficit down to seven points by halftime at 41-34.

BGSU would keep the momentum out of the locker room, drawing even with the Fighting Hawks at 42-42 after opening the half on a 7-1 spurt.

With UND clinging to a 47-46 lead, McDermott drilled his first of four second-half treys to spark a 7-0 run. The Fighting Hawks would never trail again as Hooker and McDermott took over the game.

Hooker had 13 points after halftime, including going 8-for-8 from the foul line, while McDermott hit four triples to push the lead back to double figures. UND would finish 21-for-26 on free throws, while BGSU struggled in that department going 8-for-20.

McDermott, who did not score in his collegiate debut at Wisconsin on Tuesday, only missed from the field once as he became the second freshman to hit five of more 3-pointers for UND this season.

Hooker also led a dominant effort on the glass for UND, who outrebounded the Falcons 42-33. He finished with a team-high nine rebounds and added a game-high six assists.

Baldwin added nine points for UND with all of those coming on a trio of first-half trifectas.

UND will play host Florida Gulf Coast on Sunday at 6 p.m. on ESPN3.
