GRAND FORKS, N.D. -- University of North Dakota freshman defenseman Anna Kilponen has been named the Western Collegiate Hockey Association's Rookie of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.

Kilponen recorded two assists over the weekend, helping UND sweep St. Cloud State in the first round of WCHA playoff action. She finished the series with a +5 plus/minus rating, including recording a career-high +3 rating on Saturday. Additionally, she blocked three shots over the weekend against the Huskies.

Heading into the 2016 WCHA Final Face-Off, Kilponen is in the midst of a career-best three-game point streak, and has recorded a point in four of the five previous games.

The award is the first for Kilponen this season, and the seventh weekly honor of the year for North Dakota.
