GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The University of North Dakota has been named the No. 1 seed for next weekend's NCAA Midwest Regional in Cincinnati and will face Hockey East champion Northeastern in the semifinals.
The game is scheduled for 2 p.m. ET/1 p.m. CT on Friday, March 25. The other Midwest Region semifinal features Michigan vs. Notre Dame.
UND will be making its 14th consecutive NCAA postseason appearance, now the second-longest streak in the history of the sport behind only Michigan's 22 straight appearances from 1991 to 2012. It is also UND's 31st overall NCAA appearance in program history. UND has won seven national championships in men's hockey, a total topped only by Michigan's nine.
UND earned the No. 1 seed (No. 3 overall) after going 30-6-4 in a season that included a second consecutive Penrose Cup as National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) regular-season champion. UND and Northeastern have not met since Oct. 20, 2007, and have met only once in the NCAA postseason, a 6-2 UND win in the 1982 national semifinal. UND holds a 9-5-1 (.633) edge in the all-time series.
A select number of NCAA Midwest Regional tournament ticket packages will go on sale to members of the North Dakota Champions Club and the general public immediately today.
Champions Club members have until 5 p.m. CT on Monday, March 21, 2016 to make their requests by e-mail. If there are any ticket packages still remaining after fulfilling the Champions Club requests, general public requests will then be granted. Requests should be e-mailed to tickets@theralph.com.
E-mail requests should have the words “Regional Tickets” in the subject line, and Champions Club members should include the number of tickets requested in the body of the e-mail. Priority for ticket purchasing is based on Champions Club Priority Points as of February 15, 2016. General public requests need only to include the number of tickets requested and a phone contact. All e-mails will receive a confirmation.
Ticket packages cost $40 and are good for all three games in the tournament. The UND Box Office does not sell single-game tickets. For more tournament ticket info, visit NCAA.com.
