Home of Economy UND Sports Radio Network returns

GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The University of North Dakota Athletics Department announced on Thursday that it has reached a three-year contract extension with Home of Economy to serve as the official corporate sponsor of the UND Sports Radio Network through the 2018-19 season.

The partnership was initially formed in Sept. 2014, with the Home of Economy UND Sports Radio Network providing UND Athletics with the first-ever corporate sponsor for its radio network. The 19-station Home of Economy UND Sports Radio Network provides UND fans with coverage in 11 North Dakota markets and two Minnesota markets.

“Our renewed sponsorship with UND Athletics is a relationship we at Home of Economy value, as we look forward to the next three years of support,” said Home of Economy Co-Chief Executive Officer Wade Pearson.

iHeart Media of Grand Forks will once again serve as the flagship stations for UND Athletics. KQHT-FM (96.1 “The Fox”) continues as the home of UND men's hockey and football, KSNR-FM  (100.3 “Cat Country”) will again be the home of UND men's and women's basketball, and KKXL-AM (1440 “The Fan”) will once again air UND women's hockey. KKXL-AM will also carry the UND Coaches Show live from the Ground Round Bar & Grill in Grand Forks on Wednesday nights.

The Home of Economy UND Sports Radio Network will also continue to air daily, two-minute “UND Sports Today” updates.

After a one-year absence, Jack Michaels returns as the voice of Fighting Hawks football on Thursday night at Stony Brook and will be joined by returning color analyst Mike Berg and sideline reporter Paul Ralston. Ralston will also serve in his 12th year as the voice of UND men's basketball, while Mitch Wigness is back for his fifth year calling UND women's basketball play-by-play. Tim Hennessy returns for his 38th year as the voice of UND men's hockey and will be joined again by longtime color analyst Steve Olson, while Darrin Looker enters his 11th year calling UND women's hockey.

Ralston and Hennessy will once again co-host the UND Coaches Show every Wednesday night through the end of the men's hockey season. The UND Coaches Show broadcasts live from the Ground Round Grill & Bar in Grand Forks at 6 p.m. Central. Fans are encouraged to attend the show in person to interact with UND coaches and broadcasts while enjoying food and drink specials.
