Fall Camp Notebook: Scrimmage Recap

BUBBA'S THOUGHTS ON THE SCRIMMAGE
"We have a lot of work to do. We've got to coach practice and meetings with a real sense of urgency here. We've got to get ready to start playing a game.

"We've got to be more consistent running the football-- and we had some young guys back there-- but part of that is the quarterback and those guys getting us in the right protection, too.

"I thought we played with some energy. Defensively, we gave up a big play on a scramble, which you can't do, but you can't fault the guys' effort."

KEY STATS FROM THE SCRIMMAGE (unofficial)

*The defense stole the spotlight at the fall scrimmage, blowing up plays in the backfield on 10 different occasions.
*The UND defense combined for 3 INTs, including a pick that would've gone for a score by Jaxson Turner
*All four quarterbacks got reps, Ketteringham and Zimmerman gave way to Boltmann and Grover to do the bulk of the heavy lifting. Most of Ketteringham's stats came on the first series.
*Both punters on the roster (Cade Peterson, Warren Taylor) got a chance to kick a few.
*Very limited field goal opportunities, but Brady Leach and Peterson each took cracks at intermediate distances.
*Thursday is an off day for practice but an evaluation day for the coaches. They will use the day to review film and update depth charts as necessary from the previous two weeks of camp. Game prep for Mississippi Valley State begins late next week.
